Net Firm Gets .SCOT Domain
A Cromarty business which was one of the first to adopt the new .scot web domain believes the new addresses mark an ‘exciting era in internet history’.
Internet service provider Calico UK adopted the .scot tag after it signed up as an early adopter. Its new address runs in tandem with it’s original .co.uk suffix.
Registration of domains by the general public does not open until 23rd September.
Founded in 1994, the company provides internet access, domain name registration and web and email hosting services.
Calico managing director Kirsty Pryer said: ‘For the first time, Scottish users can have a domain that reflects their own country.
‘Irrespective of the independence referendum later in the year, the .scot domain ending is something that the Scottish nation can be proud to use.’
