VIRTUAL COMRARTY - tour Cromarty using QuickTime VR immersive images!

Drawn by the atmosphere of the town and the quiet beauty of the countryside, there is now a growing number of artists and crafts people who have settled in Cromarty, including painters, wood workers, potters, sculptors, illustrators etc.

Unlike many so called 'artists colonies'. they have not formed an isolated group, but have been absorbed into the life of the community where their influence has encouraged the development of local talent to such an extent that exhibitions displaying works by amateurs and professionals have become a regular feature of the towns activities, attracting visitors from as far away as Aberdeen and Perth.

Originally founded by Alison and Alastair Dunn in 1966 (now retired), and operating for over 39 years, the Cromarty Pottery is now managed by Barbel Dister, their daughter-in-law. All pottery is produced on the premises, and includes a wide range of hand thrown and hand built ceramics.

The shop also stocks ranges of selected crafts produced on the Black Isle (i.e. wooden bowls, cheese boards, embroidered pictures, hand painted silks and other local crafts). It is the only shop stocked entirely with goods produced by Black Isle craftsmen.

Please visit the Cromarty Pottery site for more information.
