Isbister Cairn - The Tomb of the Eagles
This is the view from the cliff edge near to the famous Tomb of the Eagles, Isbister, Orkney East Mainland. This is a chambered cairn around 5,000 years old, discovered by farmer Ronnie Simison in 1958 whilst looking for rock to make fencing posts. Artifacts included the bones of about 340 people as well as those from white-tailed eagles. Today the cairn is interpreted in a nearby visitor centre operated by Ronnie's daughters.
