| Setup your Windows NT4 machine for free
internet access. |
When you make a dial-up connection to Calico UK you
must use the username calico and the passsword login. This dial-up login
information is totally independent of any personal usernames and passwords you
might have for your mailboxes.
Please make a note of
calico
and
login
in case you ever need to input these manually during a dial-up connection.

Select the file for your modem
|
No changes are made to any existing connections you
may have with other service providers. The choice of connection is always
yours.
Auto Set Up simply creates a new Calico UK settings file in Windows Dial Up
Networking.
Selecting Auto Set Up downloads a small .ins script file that
configures your free connection, and includes the access details.
If you wish you can check the scripts before
downloading.
Once downloaded double click the file to complete the set up.

To set up your dial up connection in NT4 double-click the My Computer icon or
go to start, programmes, accessories and dial-up networking.

Click on Dial-Up Networking and then click New

Name the new phonebook entry: Calico UK and click Next

Check "I am calling the Internet" and "Send my plain text
password", then click Next

Add the phone number.

Click Finish

Select your Calico UK address book entry, then click More

Select Edit entry and modem properties.

Select the Server tab,

Check that the Dial-up server type box is PPP etc. Internet.

There are 5 other boxes. Make sure the only one selected is TCP/IP -- untick
any others

Click on TCP/IP settings

Check the bullets are on "Server assigned address" and "Server
assigned name" server addresses.

Tick the bottom 2 boxes: "Use IP Header compression" and "Use
Default Gateway"

Click on OK

To connect click on Dial and add the username: calico and the password: login

Leave the Domain box empty. Remember everything is case sensitive, so type it
exactly.

Click on the connect button to test your connection.
Once connected you can start any Internet application such as your browser.
You can now also select to dial this connection automatically using Microsoft
Explorers "Connection" tab.
