It's great when you get an opportunity to give something back to your community, and today that's what we were able to do.
We are based in the picturesque town of Cromarty in the Highlands of Scotland. Because it's an old town, the streets are narrow and building density is high, which means there are lots of mobile phone blackspots.
Last year we were approached by the Cromarty Community Council to see if we would be a "champion" for Vodafone's Rural Open Sure Signal programme. This programme uses small discrete units to provide 3G signals to rural areas which would otherwise have poor reception.

We thought it was a great idea. In fact the whole team here was in favour and we volunteered our office building and homes to be hosts to the Vodafone Sure Signal antennae, along with one other site.
Now Cromarty has a distributed 3G signal that runs the length of the town, giving residents and visitors alike a better access to mobile services. Non-Vodafone subscribers can also use the service for making emergency calls.
You can find out more information on the Vodafone's Rural Open Sure Signal website.
